The Narrative of Light & Emulsion

I choose to use traditional photographic processes because they allow me to create images through direct contact with sunlight and natural materials. Using leaves and found objects, I build layered compositions that explore the relationship between preservation and decay. I also create acetate negatives from my own photographs, enlarging small, often overlooked details and giving them a new presence. I am drawn to the fragile nature of these materials and the way they change over time. Leaves dry out and crumble, and images can fade or shift. Through processes like cyanotype, I can hold these fleeting forms in an image, even as they remind us that nothing stays the same. The deep blue of the cyanotype creates a sense of calm and openness, while the marks and textures of the materials bring a feeling of time passing. For me, traditional photographic processes offer a way to explore memory, change, and the tension between holding on and letting go. I value the hands-on nature of these processes and the way they leave room for chance, allowing each image to develop in its own way.
